Sacrifice

Obviously Sydney Carton is the most obvious example of sacrifice in the story. 

He gives his own life to protect the life that Lucie

loves because he can never be the man she deserves.

Are there other examples of sacrifice?  You betcha

Miss Pross is willing to risk her own life to protect her ladybird, Lucie Manette/Darnay.

  In the end, she takes on the vengeful

Madame Defarge and thankfully wins.

Even though Charles Darnay is a rather flat character, he does sacrifice

the money and position associated with the Evremonde family. 

He sacrifices status and wealth for his principles.  What a good guy!!
